Can you battle friends in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is finally out on Nintendo Switch, and the title aims to take a new approach for the franchise. Researchers create the world's first Pokédex in the ancient Hisui region. While exploration and data compilation is the main focus of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, many wonder if they can battle friends and other players in the game.

There isn't an option to battle other players in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Most battles will be against wild Pokémon in this mainline Pokémon entry. Trainer battles may be infrequent as few people in the Hisui region have tamed Pokémon, but they happen occasionally. There are several challenging battles with trainers across the Hisui region. Trainers will need to train their partner Pokémon well to stand a chance against the NPCs in the world of Legends: Arceus.

While players can't compete with other users in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they can trade with them. Trading is an integral part of the Pokémon experience, and some creatures can only evolve via trade or Linking Cable. Make sure you've got a few friends willing to link up at the Trading Post so that you can fill out your respective Pokédexes.
