Dialogue choices and consequences in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Adaman or Irida?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus often saddles you with a ton of dialogue options. Sometimes, they even look like they may have consequences in the main story. But do they?

The answer is that most of them don’t. For example, near the end of the game, you’re given the option to choose between Adaman or Irida to accompany you into the three lakes. Your choice will only affect which of the two legendaries in Sinnoh you’re going to get first (Dialga or Palkia). But in the end, the story will force you to capture both.

The only choices that might have some consequence are the one in Azelf’s trial. You’re supposed to always choose never give up when it asks you to step down. Choosing otherwise will not allow you to complete the quest. But is it really fair to call that a proper consequence when you’ll end up not giving up to proceed anyway?

In short, choices in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are purely flavor. Whether you choose to start with Rei or Akari, for instance, will only affect what rival you’ll end up with. Rei and Akari are different people though, much like Adaman and Irida, so the dialogue you get in succeeding cutscenes will change. However, that’s the extent of it.
