Pokémon Legends Arceus: How is this entry unique?

Learn how Pokémon Legends: Arceus is unique!

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the latest mainline entry in the Pokémon series and is gearing up to be different than previous games. With that being said, players may be wondering how Pokémon Legends: Arceus is unique.

There are many new additions and changes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. These include changes to the world, gameplay, and more. Here is how Pokémon Legends: Arceus is unique compared to other Pokémon games.

Pokémon Battles

Battling Pokémon is one of the main aspects of Pokémon, and they work somewhat differently here. Pokémon wander the world of Hisui, and a player simply needs to approach them and throw out one of their Pokémon. This will transition players into the battle system where some Pokémon may take multiple turns in a row if they are fast enough.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus also introduces the style system. There are two styles—agile and strong style. The agile style will raise the Pokémon's speed, letting them act faster next round, but at the cost of power. The strong style will increase an attack's power but will cause them to act slower.

Open World

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Hisui region is more open-world than previous Pokémon games and regions. This region will eventually become known as the Sinnoh region, but players can explore it before it becomes populated.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is not fully open-world but instead has several different open areas that players can explore while working on surveys. After completing these surveys, players will return to Jubilife Village, the main hub, and get more missions before heading out to more areas.

Galaxy Expedition Team

Typically in Pokémon games, the team is the main antagonist but in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Galaxy Expedition Team serves as your biggest support. They help you in your research and provide numerous helpful facilities in Jubilife Village.

Only time will tell if the Galaxy Expedition Team harbors a dark secret, but on the surface, they seem to want to explore the Hisui region and study Pokémon, much like the player.

Crafting

For the first time in a Pokémon game, crafting makes an appearance. This feature has made its way into many genres, and it was only a matter of time before it appeared in Pokémon. For instance, players can use apricots and tumblestones to craft Pokéballs. Players can also craft other types of Pokéballs and items like smoke bombs.

Noble Pokémon

There are new regional Pokémon introduced in Hisui and brand new types of Pokémon. These are called Noble and Alpha Pokémon. These are powerful Pokémon that won't hesitate to attack the player.

Noble Pokémon are normally peaceful and helpful, but something has sent them into a frenzy. It is up to the player to calm them with balms before capturing them. Alpha Pokémon are a larger version of Pokémon and have red eyes. They will chase the player down and attack them. Defeating them will reward rare items.

Wardens

There are no gym leaders in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Hisui. Instead, there are Wardens. These Pokémon trainers serve as protectors to Noble Pokémon and their areas. The player will meet many Wardens on their journey and work with them to stop the frenzied Noble Pokémon.
