Iono’s hairclips look suspiciously like a Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

Those look familiar.

In a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Iono revealed to be the Electric-Type Pokemon Gym leader from Levincia, was featured. She's also a streamer and influencer with a larger than life personality. That wasn't the only large thing about her, though. Many fans, including her imaginary ones in the trailer, noticed the huge blue and pink hair clips on either side of her head.

Are Iono's hair clips Magnemites?

They sure look like they could be. Fans are likely already aware of some regional variants introduced for Paldea, such as Wooper. The clips in Iono's hair resemble Magnemites but are colored a pastel pink and blue, very differently from their traditional grey color scheme. Some suspect that Magnemite may also have a unique variation in the Paldean region.

Although, at about the two-minute mark, while answering questions about her partner Pokemon, Iono very clearly states that her partner Pokémon is not Magnemite and that the clips in her hair are just "fancy-schmancy hair clips." Given her bright personality and appearance in general, it's not unbelievable that these hair clips are just a part of her character's design. They do not hint at a new regional variant. We'll likely have to wait for more official news to determine if Magnemite will have a Paldean variant in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
