Can you get Giratina in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

Gotta find this legendary.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl bring back the fourth generation of Pokémon with a remake for the Nintendo Switch. The games highlight two of these generations, Legendary Pokémon, Dialga, and Palkia, in promotional material, but can players track down Pokémon Platinum's Legendary Pokémon—Giratina as well?

Players can catch Giratina in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They'll need to complete the following tasks before they can battle and ultimately catch Giratina, though:

  • Earn all eight Gym Badges
  • Defeat the Elite Four
  • Become Pokémon Champion
  • Complete the Sinnoh Pokédex
  • Unlock the National Pokédex by Speaking to Professor Oak in Sandgem Town
  • Travel to Spring Path—Turnback Cave

Giratina hides in the Turnback Cave. Here, you'll need to find three pillars randomly strewn throughout the area. We recommend bringing along some Repels to stop random Pokémon from attacking you while you search the cave for these pillars. The pillars spawn randomly, so scout the area until you find three in a single run search. Once you've seen and interacted with all three pillars, Giratina spawns in the next room.

Make sure to save the game before fighting Giratina, in case the encounter goes awry. Giratina spawns at level 70, so make sure your team is amply leveled up and prepared to fight this Ghost/Dragon-type. Bring plenty of Dusk Balls and Ultra Balls for this fight, as Giratina will more than likely struggle its way out of more than a dozen.
