How are Mega Evolutions Changing in Pokémon Go?

Pokémon Go is always striving to improve and make its gameplay more inviting for players. The game has consistently adapted content from the mainline games, including the ability to Mega Evolve your Pokémon. Now, Niantic is officially changing how Mega Evolutions are going to work in the game.

Mega Evolutions has undergone a few changes, you will can now Mega Evolve from the raid and battle prep screens. You will also notice an additional animation on the page of Pokémon that you already have Mega Evolved, and there is a new Mega Mastery system.

What is Mega Mastery?

Mega Mastery is a new way to level up your Mega Evolutions quicker. Here are the changes being made to help you do this.

• When you catch a Pokémon of the same type, you now have a chance to earn Candy XL.
• You get extra experience when catching a Pokémon of the same type.
• As a Pokémon's rest level decreases, its Mega Level will increase.

The more you use a Mega Evolution, the quicker that Pokémon's Mega Level will be increased. Each Pokémon has a chance to earn various bonuses when leveled up, like a higher chance to earn candy.
