How to catch XXS and XXL Pokémon in Pokémon GO

How do you get a new Record-Sized Pokémon?

Niantic regularly adds new features and events to Pokémon GO, like the Mythic Blade event, allowing players to catch new and unique Pokémon. The latest feature added allows players to encounter and catch different-sized Pokémon in the form of XXS and XXL catches. These Pokémon will not be too common, so players must have a sharp eye to catch them.

These Pokémon won't be as rare as shiny Pokémon, but they will still be relatively hard to find outside of events and celebrations. Poochyena, Mightyena, and Mawile can be found with different size variants at the time of writing, but the number of Pokémon with this feature will likely increase over time. Players will be able to see if the Pokémon they have encountered has a special size with the words "It's tiny!" or "It's HUGE!" appearing above the Pokémon during the catch encounter (shown above).

How can you tell a Pokémon's size in Pokémon GO?

To visually see a Pokémon's size, especially if it has a distinct size (XXS or XXL), players can look at the Pokémon's sprite. Whether it is in their Pokémon storage or sits as their Buddy Pokémon, the Pokémon's size should be noticeable. Players should also be able to retrieve more information about a Pokémon's size and how many of each size a player has caught in the Pokédex entry for that Pokémon.
