When is New Pokemon Snap releasing?

New Pokemon Snap is set to release on April 30th, 2021, and preorders are now available at the official Nintendo website. That said if you are interested in what the game is about and what it will feature, keep reading below.

What is New Pokemon Snap?

New Pokemon Snap is the sequel to the late 1990s Pokemon Snap and features a largely similar premise. In the game, you play as a young assistant to a Professor and must take pictures of the various Pokemon that roam the Lental Region. The game's plot also reloves around a mysterious Illumina phenomenon that the player must unravel. Along with that, you will also come across mysterious glowing creatures called Lumina Pokémon.

New Pokemon Snap will also have players exploring several biomes that make up the Lental Region, including deserts, plains, and even jungles on a rails car called NEO-ONE. On these car rides, you will be able to observe over 200 Pokemon in their natural habitats and photograph them - you will also need to do this to unlock more areas and earn points by filling special requirements.

What are some of the Gameplay features in New Pokemon Snap?

New Pokemon Snap will feature a ton of new improvements upon that of its predecessor, including full voice acting in all of the game's cutscenes, with the option to swap between Japanese and English dub. Other improvements to the game include new tools to help you take pictures, along with a photo editor which will come in handy to add more flair to the photos you take. Other tools also include Ilumina orbs which make Pokemon glow and stuff like a Flute and Fluff fruit.

Along with this, New Pokemon Snap will allow you to choose your character with some limited customization. The game also features motion controls and the ability to scan environments to locate hidden Pokemon that are hidden out of view and systems that make it so every path you take spawns New Pokemon.

You will also level up over time what is called a research-level by taking pictures of the various Pokemon that roam the region - this will unlock more paths you can take and areas you can explore. The game may along with the other features we talked about so far, include online play in some form, but it is still unknown what exactly it will be or how it will work.
