Narve Oparyn joins your Triangle Strategy retinue through Character Stories if your Liberty and Morality Convictions align enough with his. When they do, perhaps he will have seen the same special something in Serenoa that he did in his late grandfather, the Archmage Grandante. In any case, he will join the cause, and we hope he'll be able to restore the Archmage's lost history along the way.
Here's how to use Narve—once again, the grandson of the Archmage Grandante—to be clear.
Battle Strategies for Narve Oparyn
Narve is incredibly useful to have around when he enters in the first half of the game—his Sanctuary ability has the power to heal up to five allied units within range—a capability not even Geela had yet when he was recruited. Narve specializes in magic of every element. Particularly, his wind magic that reorients the multiple foes ahead of him so their backs are facing you. Use this tactic in battle to perform back attacks and earn kudos.
You can also freeze the ground with his ice magic, then have Corentin use Icy Tomb to deal major damage to any foes standing on the ice. And once Narve learns Scorch, he can set the ground afire if there's something flammable or if someone's spilled an Oil Jug. Additionally, he may be the first unit you get that will know Spark, a very powerful lightning attack that has a chance of paralyzing enemies.

Class Promotions and Weapon Upgrades
Narve's Weapon Rank One allows for an ice and fire magic damage upgrade. Choose which, depending on what you'll need for battle. The same goes for wind and thunder magic when you hit Weapon Rank Two, so make decisions based on your enemies' anticipated weaknesses.
When you upgrade Narve to weapon rank three, he'll gain the impressive Mystic Beam ability, which will damage enemies with non-elemental magic in six consecutive squares—but also "grant HP to allies along its path." These advanced abilities require a considerable amount of turn points, so have Miguel close by to support him with more TP. Once Narve achieves Elite class, his attack range will increase with passive ability Extending Your Reach.
Narve's defense stat isn't the best, so upgrade it in Weapon Ranks One and Two. Buff him in battle after equipping him with well-picked magic or defense-enhancing accessories. Narve's comprehensive magic abilities inflict the entire range of terrain effects, and he'll be there for you in a pinch with his healing powers. And his devotion to the memory of the late Archmage is—quite touching.
