Lunar Coins are an in-game currency that you maintain even after finishing a run. They are rarely dropped, but you will see from time to time when an enemy is killed. Anyone can grab a Lunar Coin once it has dropped, so nab it before someone else does! If you save up 10 of the coins, you can use them to unlock the Artificer, which is in the Bazaar Between Time. This will spawn if you pay a Lunar Coin at a newt alter, or it will randomly spawn once you've defeated a boss.

Risk of Rain 2 Lunar Items List

You will find Lunar Chests randomly throughout the different levels in the game. They cost 1 Lunar Coin to open and will give you a randomly chosen option of the following items (including the equipment).

Beads of Fealty

  • Description: Seems to do nothing...but...
  • Stack Type: None
  • Tips
    • It is used when the player obliterates themself at the Obelisk in A Moment, Fractured. It transports them to A Moment, Whole, which contains one of the four Twisted Scavenger.
    • After the player enters A Moment, Whole, the descriptions changes.

Brittle Crown

  • Description: Thirty percent chance on hit to gain two (plus two per stack) gold. Lose gold on taking damage equal to 100 percent (plus 100 percent per stack) of the maximum health percentage you lost.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Best used for when you hit a lot and rarely get hit in return. Great item for Engineers.

Corpsebloom

  • Description: Heal 100 percent (plus 100 percent per stack) more. All healing is applied over time. Can heal for a maximum of 10 percent (minus 50 percent per stack) of your health per second.
  • Stack Type: Linear, Hyperbolic
  • Tips
    • Best used in tandem with the Rejuvenation Rack. Combining one Corpsebloom and one Rejuvenation Rack multiples the healing effects of the Corpsebloom by eight.

Defiant Gouge

  • Description: Using a Shrine summons enemies (stronger per stack) nearby. Scales over time.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • It's most helpful for leveling up and collecting gold quickly. When stacked, activating a Shrine or Cleansing pool creates more numerous and powerful enemies based on how many stacks you have, all of which are worth more than normal enemies.
    • Enemy difficulty is based on when the player enters the level instead of when the shrine is activated.

Essence of Heresy

  • Description: Replace your Special Skill with Ruin. Dealing damage adds a stack of Ruin for 10 (plus 10 per stack) seconds. Activating the skill detonates all Ruin stacks at unlimited range, dealing 300 percent damage (plus 120 percent damage per stack) of Ruin. Recharges after eight (plus eight per stack) seconds.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Stacks of Ruin are refreshed when a new stack is applied to a target, so it's best to switch them only when necessary.
    • Should be used strategically since the player cannot inflict Ruin on enemies while the skill is on cooldown.
    • Using this item with the other three items turns the user into a Herectic.

Focused Convergence

  • Description: Teleporters charge 30 percent (plus 30 percent per stack) faster, but the size of the Teleporter zone is 50 percent (minus 50 percent per stack) smaller.
  • Stack Type: Linear, Hyperbolic
  • Tips
    • Maximum effect is applied with a stack of three.
    • The reduction in radius stacks with Eclipse, so it's recommended to not use it with Eclipse level two or higher.

Gesture of the Drowned

  • Description: Reduce Equipment cooldown by 50 percent (plus 15 percent per stack). Forces your Equipment to activate whenever it is off cooldown.
  • Stack Type: Exponential
  • Tips
    • If used with enough Fuel Cells and Gestures, some buffs can be continuously active
    • It's not recommended to use this with The Crowdfunder in earlier stages since the gold you collect will be immediately consumed.
    • If you disable the Target for the Royal Capacitor and use this with it, you can store charges with Fuel Cells. When you place a Target, all stored charges will be fired consecutively.

Hooks of Heresy

  • Description: Replace the Survivor's secondary skill with Slicing Maelstrom. Charge up a projectile that deals 875 percent damage per second to nearby enemies, exploding after three seconds to deal 700 percent percent damage and root enemies for three (plus three per stack) seconds. Recharges after five (plus five per stack) seconds.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Slicing Maelstrom only increases projectile velocity, not damage. It's best to not charge it at all if its being used against close-range targets.
    • Using this item with the other three items turns the user into a Heretic.

Mercurial Rachis

  • Description: Creates a Ward of Power in a random location nearby that buffs both enemies and allies within 16 meters (plus 50 percent per stack), causing them to deal 50 percent extra damage.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Multiple stacks can increase the increase the ward's effect radius, so stacking too much can provide the bonus effects to enemies as well.
    • The Engineer's TR12 Gauss Auto-Turrets are one of the most effective weapons to combine with this effect.

Purity

  • Description: All skill cooldowns are reduced by two (plus one per stack) seconds. All random effects are rolled plus on per stack times for an unfavorable outcome.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Stacks well with Alien Head and Hardlight Afterburner since its flat cooldown reduction applies after them.
    • Items with guaranteed effects are unaffected by Purity.

Shaped Glass

  • Description: Increase base damage by 100 percent (plus 100 percent per stack). Reduce maximum health by 50 percent (plus 50 percent per stack).
  • Stack Type: Exponential
  • Tips
    • Best used by players who can keep their health high or the damage taken low.i
    • Works well with Topaz Brooch since its barrier decays slower when you have lower health.
    • Tougher Times is essential with this item since it lessens damage-over-time effects and damage and light-hitting enemies.

Strides of Heresy

  • Description: Replace your Utility Skill with Shadowfade. Fade away, becoming intangible and gaining 30 percent movement speed. Heal for 18.2 percent (plus 18.2 percent per stack) of your maximum health. Lasts three (plus three per stack) seconds.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Not a good item for Mercenary, Loader, or Captain, since it lowers their damage output significantly when it replaces their utility skills.
    • Works well for Commando and REX, as it is comparable to their utility skills.
    • Using this item with the other three items turns the user into a Heretic.

Transcendence

  • Description: Convert all but 1 health into regenerating shields. Gain 50 percent (plus 25 percent per stack) maximum health.
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Helpful for Engineer, Captain, and MUL-T since it reduces fall damage to one point.
    • Removes the Heretic's negative health regeneration effect by setting health regeneration to zero.
    • Best for players who have high mobility since shields only recover after several seconds without taking damage.

Visions of Heresy

  • Description: Replace your Primary Skill with Hungering Gaze. Fire a flurry of tracking shards that detonate after a delay, dealing 120 percent base damage. Hold up to 12 charges (plus 12 per stack) that reload after two seconds (plus two per stack).
  • Stack Type: Linear
  • Tips
    • Works best for Acrid and Loader because of their mobility. Being in melee range of these charges, so you want your character to avoid being near them.
    • Using this item with the other three items turns the user into a Heretic.
