Updated on October 27: Updated the ranked recommendations after race passives were disabled, revised resistance-stacking and build advice, and added the Legendary reroll confirmation. Check out my updated Clover RPG Race Tier List.
A Legendary roll is nice. A passive your build actually uses is better. Outside ranked, Lesser Angel is my best overall race in Clover RPG, while Lesser Demon has the strongest physical-damage ceiling. For dedicated casters, Dark Elf and Elf are both excellent keeps rather than consolation prizes on the way to a 2% roll.
This Clover RPG race tier list ranks all seven races by their combat perks, practical build value, and progression benefits. Below, you will find the full bonuses, roll chances, magic and weapon synergies, and advice on which races are worth keeping before you spend a reroll.
Clover RPG Race Tier List
S tier: Lesser Angel and Lesser Demon. A tier: Dark Elf and Elf. B tier: Eldritch and Dryad. C tier: Human. These rankings compare the full racial packages for PvE and modes where their passives work, with no strict ordering inside each tier. Ranked disables race passives but keeps stat buffs. Divine Retribution and Wrath Unbound therefore do not justify an S-tier ranked pick on their own.

How I Ranked the Races in Clover RPG
I prioritize benefits that change fights: damage, resource efficiency, survival, and useful build interactions. Contract progression and merchant income also count, but they serve different purposes. Rarity, cosmetic variants, and how difficult a race is to roll do not earn extra points.
The rankings remain provisional where the mechanics are incomplete. Lesser Demon's peak damage is not its average damage, Dryad's regeneration still lacks key numbers, and Eldritch's Resolve bonus needs practical testing. Race perks that are not implemented now carry an in-game disclaimer. Check yours before building around it; the patch notes do not identify every affected perk.

Best Clover RPG Races for Your Build
Lesser Angel: Best Overall Race and Spirit Pick
Lesser Angel is the broadest recommendation outside ranked because its key survival perk needs neither a hit streak nor a particular magic. Magic Resistance gives it a defensive role against spells, and Divine Retribution can rescue a fight that would otherwise end on a lethal hit. Heavenbound adds value for Spirit progression, provided it is implemented in your current build. In ranked, judge Angel by its +10% Magic Resistance and +40 Energy, not a second chance from Divine Retribution.
Light and Time now give that survival role more context. Light has self-healing through Divine Light, while Time's Rewind reverses recent damage. Those are separate ways to recover after surviving, not a guaranteed second health bar. Angel does not establish a safe casting window after Divine Retribution. Light's heal has a 60-second cooldown, and Rewind's exact recovery limits are unresolved. You still need to create space rather than assume the next button saves you.
Lesser Demon: Best Physical-Damage Ceiling
Lesser Demon rewards landing melee hits while denying the opponent a hit back. The potential 25% physical bonus is its main reason for S tier outside ranked. Hellsworn strengthens the package where implemented, but Devil progression is not the only reason to keep it. Ranked removes Wrath Unbound, leaving +20 Health and +5% Physical Resistance as its clear defensive stat benefits.
Flame's Amplified Wrath rewards M1s against burning targets, while Lightning's Stormcaller's Respite can imbue M1s with thunder after a spell connects. Flame's newly implemented Shattering Ember also rewards a Flame guard break with an explosion, although its knockback can move targets out of weapon range. These are pairings for modes where passives work. Beast's new ultimate and PvE scaling buff strengthen its kit without proving its spells count as physical attacks or generate Demon stacks.
Do not pick a weapon purely to chase stacks. Reach, recovery, and avoiding retaliation matter as much as attack speed. Parry stun now lasts longer, especially against Heavy weapons, making careless swings more costly. NPCs also keep a little more distance, so spacing matters when trying to maintain pressure. Physical Resistance reduces damage; it does not mean you avoided being hit.
Dark Elf: Best Direct Spell-Damage Bonus
Dark Elf is my offensive caster recommendation when you want straightforward value. Spellcaster adds 5% spell damage, and Mana regeneration helps support continued use. Unlike Shadow's nighttime passive or Lightning's rain bonus, the racial damage perk has no environmental condition.
Its value follows the damaging part of your kit. Light's offensive spells can benefit without implying stronger Divine Light or Divine Field healing. Likewise, Time's spell-damage bonus does not establish better Rewind recovery, longer bubbles, or more orbs. Arcane Rebound offers another source of Mana recovery for a defensive caster, but its restoration should not be assumed to scale with Dark Elf's Mana Regen bonus.
Elf: Best Race for Lower Spell Costs
Elf is an A-tier caster race because avoiding a resource shortage can matter more than a small damage increase. The 15% cost reduction applies as you cast. If it lets you finish an attack sequence or keep enough Mana for a useful spell, it is doing real work. If you regularly wait on cooldowns with plenty of Mana left, it is solving the wrong problem for your build.
Wind is the clearest pairing to investigate: Gale Rupture and Gale Updraft help create airborne casting opportunities for Aerial Efficiency's 30% discount. Elf supports the same resource-efficient playstyle, but the combined calculation is unverified. Time's Timeflux also discounts orb-enhanced abilities. Neither interaction justifies adding percentages blindly, and Elf's spell-cost perk should not automatically be extended to Chrono Surge's mana-consuming dodge.
Eldritch: A Steady Physical-Build Option
Eldritch offers a small physical bonus without Lesser Demon's streak condition. That makes it a reasonable race to keep while developing a weapon build, particularly if you are still learning how to avoid trading hits. Its +2 Max Resolve is the main reason its final placement remains open.
Strength-focused play and Misdirect traits such as Liver Shot fit the same build direction. However, the exact damage interaction needs testing, and extra Resolve cannot yet be translated into extra dodges or a guaranteed escape. I would not spend rerolls just to move off Eldritch before knowing which problem a replacement would actually solve.
Dryad: A Sustain Pick That Still Needs Numbers
Dryad's appeal is recovering damage over time while preserving your other resources. That could be useful across repeated PvE encounters or longer fights where you can create breathing room. Flame, Beast, and Lightning do not have explicit self-heals in their current ability descriptions, making an external recovery perk worth investigating.
The missing details are substantial: how wounded you must be, how the grace activates, how long it lasts, how often it is available, and how much it heals. That keeps Dryad in provisional B tier. Pacifist's out-of-combat regeneration could support recovery between encounters, but there is no established multiplier between it and Nature's Grace. Dryad also cannot replace Angel's explicit lethal-damage protection.
Human: Best for Selling Loot, Weakest for Direct Combat
Human makes unwanted loot worth more, which is useful even if it will not win your next duel. The 15% selling bonus scales with how much you sell. It does not add 15% to quest rewards, increase every currency source, or reduce every shop price.
Entrepreneur also improves NPC negotiation and persuasion, although specific dialogue benefits remain unclear. The Bargain Master trait is a potential economy pairing, but its similar selling bonus does not prove a combined 30% increase. Human stays C because the other races offer more direct combat help. You can still progress with it and use the income rather than treating a common roll as a reason to restart.

Best Races for PvE and PvP
For general PvE, Lesser Angel is my safest overall recommendation. For spell-focused farming, Dark Elf adds damage and Mana regeneration, while Elf helps when casting costs limit your rotation. Lesser Demon has strong physical potential against enemies whose attacks you can consistently avoid. Its maximum stacks should not be treated as guaranteed boss-fight uptime.
For ranked PvP, compare the stat bonuses that remain active. Angel brings +10% Magic Resistance and +40 Energy; Demon brings +5% Physical Resistance and +20 Health; Eldritch brings +10 Health and +2 Max Resolve. Dark Elf retains its +10% Mana Regen and +10 Energy, Elf has +20 Energy, and Dryad has +10 Energy. Do not treat a named racial passive as an active ranked stat buff just because its effect contains a percentage. Clover Colosseum also disables passives more broadly and removes bandages and Mana Pots, so passive-based healing and trait combinations need a separate evaluation there. Outside those restrictions, match your race to how you fight: Angel supports survival, Demon rewards clean melee pressure, and the Elves support casting.
How to Reroll Your Race in Clover RPG
To change your race, use a Race Reroll item. You are rolling for another random result, not selecting a race from this tier list. The game now adds a confirmation for Legendary races and families, so read the prompt carefully before replacing Angel or Demon. Check the current purchase price, trade restrictions, and any character-reset warning; do not assume a Race Reroll behaves exactly like a Magic Reroll.
Earlier shop and reroll information priced the item at 325 Essence and included trading, NPC merchants, and a low-chance Gladiator drop as acquisition routes. Treat that price as historical until you check the current shop. The Gladiator drop rate is not established, so there is no reliable number of fights to budget around.
A reroll is not a guaranteed upgrade. Human is 50%, and each Legendary is 2% in the perk set used for this guide. Keeping a useful Elf on a caster can beat chasing a Legendary with less relevant benefits. If ranked is your priority, compare the surviving stat bonuses first; do not spend rerolls chasing a passive that mode disables.
Which Race Should You Keep or Reroll?
- Keep Lesser Angel for broad survivability outside ranked, especially if Spirit progression is part of your plan. Its resistance and Energy bonuses remain its ranked selling points.
- Keep Lesser Demon for weapon-focused PvE, unrestricted PvP, or Devil progression. Ranked removes its stacking damage advantage.
- Keep Dark Elf or Elf on a dedicated caster in modes where their full perks work. For ranked, compare their remaining regeneration and Energy bonuses instead of relying on Spellcaster or World Tree's Blessing.
- Keep Eldritch or Dryad while evaluating your build. A lower overall tier does not mean spending a reroll immediately improves your character.
- Human is the clearest combat-focused replacement candidate, but you can use its selling bonus while progressing. Wait until you have spare rerolls rather than treating it as an emergency.
Important Mechanics That Could Change These Rankings
The main testing priorities are Lesser Demon's eligible hits and stack-loss rules, Divine Retribution's health calculation and reset conditions, Dryad's healing output, and the combat value of Eldritch's +2 Max Resolve. Contract progression rates and mode-duration increases also lack exact figures. Those details could change the relative value of the races more than rarity ever will.
Resistances now stack multiplicatively. Angel's Magic Resistance and Demon's Physical Resistance cannot simply be added to trait or equipment percentages. This change does not establish how damage bonuses, selling bonuses, or Mana-cost reductions combine. Spell descriptions also use Energy while several passives refer to Mana; this guide does not assume the terms are interchangeable.
Clover RPG Race Tier List FAQ
Lesser Angel remains my strongest overall recommendation outside ranked, while Lesser Demon shares S tier for physical-damage potential. Ranked disables race passives but retains stat buffs, so Divine Retribution and Wrath Unbound are not ranked advantages. Choose around the bonuses that work in your preferred mode.
Outside ranked, Dark Elf offers 5% spell damage plus 10% Mana Regen, while Elf reduces spell Mana costs by 15%. Ranked disables racial passives, including Spellcaster and World Tree's Blessing; compare the remaining regeneration, Energy, and defensive stat bonuses there.
Lesser Demon is promising outside ranked if you use Beast to support frequent weapon attacks, but Beast spells are not confirmed to generate Demon stacks. Its new ultimate and PvE scaling buff do not prove a specific racial synergy. Dark Elf supports spell damage and Angel offers survivability where their passives work; there is still no verified Beast-specific winner.
The chances used in this guide are Human 50%, Elf 20%, Dark Elf 10%, Eldritch 10%, Dryad 6%, Lesser Demon 2%, and Lesser Angel 2%. They total 100%; Legendary rarity does not guarantee the best fit for every build.
Its current perks give 15% more money when selling items and improved NPC negotiation and persuasion. They do not establish a universal purchase discount. Human ranks C for direct combat value, but its selling bonus can still help fund progression.
Both effects reduce casting costs where their passives are active, but their stacking formula remains unverified. Do not assume Elf's 15% reduction and Wind's 30% airborne reduction combine into 45%. The resistance-stacking change does not establish the Mana-cost formula, and these passives do not apply in Clover Colosseum.
Variants are cosmetic and do not earn a higher combat rank. The available counts are Human 0, Elf 5, Dark Elf 5, Eldritch 3, Dryad 3, Lesser Demon 5, and Lesser Angel 4.
Use your race to support the character you actually play. Angel and Demon lead this list, but a well-matched Elf or Dark Elf is already a strong foundation. Our Clover RPG guides cover the magic, weapons, and traits that finish the build.
