Can you change your character on Rust?

Can you customize them?

Can you customize and change characters in Rust?

If you are wondering if changing characters or customizing them is possible in Rust, the answer is no and yes. In short, players can customize their characters in the sense that they can equip all kinds of clothing and armor items. These items can also have unique skins to change their appearance to your tastes. However, if you want to change your character's physical appearance, you can't. Rust has never featured an option for physical appearance or changing gender. Instead, character creation is based on a Steam ID system where it mimics real life. This Steam ID system gives every player a unique character appearance based on their Steam ID.

How to apply skins in Rust

If you are disappointed in the lack of character customization options, you can still customize if you equip skins on your items in Rust. To equip skins on your items, you must have a few skins in your Steam inventory. You can get skins by purchasing them through the Steam trading hub, and when you have a few, you can equip them directly through the crafting menu. Inside the crafting menu, you can select skins above the craft button in the lower left of your screen.
