Sea of Thieves’ first adventure event, Shrouded Islands, starts next month

Batten down the hatches, more content is incoming!

Sea of Thieves has been working to grow its narrative over the past few years, and for the most part, has succeeded. Rare, the developers, have announced a new experience coming to Sea of Thieves in an attempt to drive the narrative even further. These experiences are limited-time events known as Adventures, with the first one known as Shrouded islands, beginning on Feb. 17 and running until March 3.

During the Sea of Thieves 2022 preview event, the developers revealed that they are looking to release a new Adventure each and every month, with a big finale Adventure that brings each Season to a close. These events are more story-focused than some of the other events, and they allow players to become an active part of the game's ever-changing world.

Limited-time events are a concern for gamers, as it often means they will miss out on a large piece of the game if they are unable to play during the events run-time. Rare says they are aware of these concerns and took this into account when approaching the return to monthly updates.

They decided that the over-arching story of these events would help to connect players and bring the world to life. Players that do miss the events will have the opportunity to get a summary of what they missed with cinematics.

My name is Mason Moses. I am an entertainment aficionado, who spends more time consuming it than I would like to admit. I've been playing video games for the past 15 years and every time I turn one on, it feels like the very first time. Since I liked games so much, I decided that I would write about them.
