How to start Legend of the Veil in Sea of Thieves

The Legend of the Veil voyage is available to anyone that has obtained the Pirate Legend rank. Once you're a Pirate Legend, head to the Pirate Lord in Athena's Fortune and purchase it for 250 gold.

For those still working on becoming a Pirate Legend and wanting to partake in this mythical journey, they simply need to have a Pirate Legend on their ship to propose the voyage. From there, everyone on the crew is able to set sail!

What are the Legend of the Veil quests?

The Legend of the Veil voyage is a three-mission quest. The first two will always be randomized whereas the third and final mission remains the same. The first two missions can take the following forms.

Haunted Islands

If the Pirate Lord tasks your crew with seeking out Belle, then expect a Haunted Island. Upon finding Belle, she will give players an Enchanted Lantern. Using the lantern, players must seek out six Ancient Statues and light the brazier located in front of each. Once the brazier is lit, players will want to look to the sky for swirling white beams of light. These mark the location of the remaining Ancient Statues.

Once the final brazier is lit, the player and their crew will be set upon by Phantoms. After defeating enough of them, a Soulflame Captain will appear. Defeating the Captain will end the battle and reward players with a Veil Stone.

Lying Maps

When tasked with speaking to Sudds, players should know they're in for a maps puzzle. Open the Quest Book and set sail for the island where Sudds is currently located. Once there, check the Quest Book again to find a hint towards the precise location of Sudds.

Players will be given a two-page map with various Ancient symbols drawn on it. These symbols correspond to actual rock paintings on the island. However, one of the paintings will be inaccurate and actually mark the location of the Veil Stone.

Once the incorrect symbol is identified, players will want to dig in front of it to uncover an Ancient Chest with the Veil Stone inside.

Pictorial Maps

When tasked with speaking to Sudds, players should know they're in for a maps puzzle. Open the Quest Book and set sail for the island where Sudds is currently located. Once there, check the Quest Book again to find a hint towards the precise location of Sudds.

Pictorial Maps will give players two-page puzzles. The left page will show sketches of important landmarks on an island. This will determine the island the players need to sail to.

Once the correct island has been identified and sailed to, players will need to look at the right page to help track down the location of the Veil Stone. Once located, dig in front of the symbol for an Ancient Chest containing the Veil Stone.

Shipwreck Graveyards

Shipwreck Graveyards will task players will locating a flotilla of sunken ships. This can be identified from the book. Once players near the wreckage, they should look to the sky for circling seagulls much like the standard shipwreck.

Completing the Shipwreck Graveyard required players to locate the key to the Captain's Cabin of the Grim Fortune Shipwreck. Inside will be the Veil Stone. The individual ships can be identified by their nameplate. Players will first want to identify the Grim Fortune as it's where the stone is.

Also aboard the Grim Fortune is the Ships Log which will tell players where they can find the key to the Captain's Cabin. Barring that, players can brute force it and search everywhere. This isn't a bad method as there's plenty of treasure floating among the debris.

With the key acquired, head back to the Captain's Cabin and retrieve the Veil Stone.

Zoom Maps

When tasked with speaking to Sudds, players should know they're in for a maps puzzle. Open the Quest Book and set sail for the island where Sudds is currently located. Once there, check the Quest Book again to find a hint towards the precise location of Sudds.

Zoom Maps are what the name implies. Sudds will have a sketch with the location of a Veil Stone. However, the drawn location is a close-up that players must reference to find the correct island and spot on the island. This will really put Pirate Legends to the test.

Once the location has been determined, sail to the island, head to the marked spot, and dig to uncover an Ancient Chest with a Veil Stone inside.

What is the final chapter in Legend of the Veil?

The final chapter tasks players with laying siege to a Ghost Garrison. A tremendous green tornado and several ghost ships protect the central Ghost Garrison. To clear the storm and ships, players will need to defeat three encampments with their ship's cannons.

Once the Ghost Garrison is exposed, players will need to attack each of the vulnerable, glowing portions. With those weak points destroyed, the storm and ships will recede, allowing players to loot the garrison.

With all three Veil Stones placed, players will have completed this legendary voyage and looted its valuable booty! Congrats!
