How to get water in Sons of the Forest

There are creeks everywhere so keep a look out!

Getting water in Sons of the Forest is extremely important as being thirsty will decrease the player's stamina bar. Not just any water will do, however, and just going to the beach to get water from the ocean will not work. Water can be carried and stored later in the game, but initially, players will have to go and search for clean water to use. This is how to find and get water in Sons of the Forest.

How to get water and remove thirst in Sons of the Forest

Not just any water will quench thirst in Sons of the Forest, and players are required to go further inland to find it. The saltwater at the beach, true to real life, isn't acceptable for consumption. Using M to bring up the GPS can help to find large bodies of water, but looking at the mini-map in the bottom right-hand corner will prove more useful as it will display the tiny ponds that can be found scattered around the island. After surviving the first night of the game, players will no doubt be hungry and thirsty.

Once the body of water has been found, all players have to do is look down at it and hold the interact key E to drink it. This will quench the player's thirst and restore stamina. The maximum amount of stamina is also tied to how thirsty the player is, so keeping it filled up will keep them able to sprint for longer. Once players are able to get containers to store water in, players can keep chopping trees or fending off creatures to their heart's content.
