Can you date the bartender?

There are many different villagers you can interact with in Stardew Valley, many of whom are able to be romanced. Even the villagers that can't be romanced offer valuable friendship, gifts, and perks. Where does Gus, the trusty town bartender, fit in? Who is Gus in Stardew Valley?

Gus is the local bartender/tavern owner of the Stardrop Saloon in Pelican Town. He is especially known for his consistency, kind nature, and cheerful demeanor. Aside from some random days and special events, Gus is mainly confined to the Stardrop Saloon.

Is Gus romanceable in Stardew Valley?

Any players who take a special liking to Gus may want him as a marriage candidate in Stardew Valley. Sadly, this is not possible. Gus is not a romanceable character in Stardew Valley. You are able to reach a high level of friendship with him, but never romance.

Gus Schedule Stardew Valley

All characters in Stardew Valley follow a schedule that will tell you exactly where they hang out day-to-day. Some characters have erratic schedules, but Gus is mostly predictable. Any variances in his schedule are mostly minor, with only a couple of exceptions.

There are tons of gift options to choose from when deciding what to give Gus. But many of these choices could work against you, so you must select your gifts for Gus carefully. Gifts are divided into Loves, Likes, Neutrals, Dislikes, and Hates.

When you give a loved gift to Gus, it will add a significant number of Friendship Points with him:

Likes

If you give a liked gift to Gus, it will add moderately to the Friendship Points you have for him:

  • All Artisan Goods (Except for Oil & Void Mayonnaise
  • All Cooking (Except for Bread, Fried Egg, Strange Bun, and Seafoam Pudding)
  • All Flowers (Except for Poppy)
  • All Foraged Minerals (Except for Quartz)
  • All Gems (Except for Prismatic Shard, which is loved)
  • All Tree Fruits (Except for Banana & Mango)
  • All Vegetables (Except for Hops, Tea Leaves, Wheat, and Unmilled Rice)
  • Daffodil
  • Life Elixir
  • Maple Syrup
  • Piña Colada

Neutral

Neutral gifts given to Gus don't add to your Friendship Points for Gus, nor do they take away from the points:

Stardew Valley - Gus Heart Events

Heart Events are happenings that occur after reaching a certain level of Friendship/Relationship with a person in Stardew Valley. For Gus, there are four Heart Events that you'll have the opportunity to experience. Two are through the mail and another two require you to travel to the Saloon after reaching the required Heart Level.

Gus Quests in Stardew Valley

When playing Stardew Valley, you'll get some opportunities to aid Gus by bringing him some items. You'll receive money, friendship points, and/or items in return. These quests will either appear on specific dates or at random times:
