I've been waiting on Starfield for quite some time. After all, a new IP from Bethesda, and one that looks like Fallout in space, is practically a dream come true. However, my hopes were stunted somewhat when I encountered some stuttering. Frustration aside, stuttering proved to be a problem for me gameplay-wise, so I needed to find a way to fix stuttering while playing Starfield on PC.
Starfield - How to fix PC Stuttering
Below are a couple of fixes for Starfield stuttering on PC:
- Adjust and lower your graphic settings.
- Update GPU Drivers.
- Disable Upscaling.
- Use an SSD over an HDD.
- Close other software and browsers.

Why does Starfield stutter on my PC?
You could be experiencing stuttering on PC when playing Starfield for various reasons. Stuttering seems to be happening to those using NVIDIA due to suboptimization. But there are other causes as well, especially if your PC does not meet the minimum specifications.
Bethesda games have a reputation for being poorly optimized or having various bugs, so some of this is expected, sadly. If you have tried the suggestions listed above and continue to encounter stuttering in Starfield, the issue may be with the game. If this is the case, you'll need to wait for Bethesda to address the stuttering with a patch.
Starfield is a demanding game, and you may be able to use mods to improve its performance. Modders have been fixing Bethesda games for years, and as time goes on, I expect more mods to be released, many of which are specifically created to improve Starfield. Using mods is not guaranteed to fix stuttering, but you may have some success ahead of an update.
