Starfield – How to install Comspike & Grid Modules

Don't miss out on this cool ship tech!

Ship equipment like Comspikes and Conduction Grids can be hard to understand in Starfield, at times. It's intimidating to open the ship builder and get started, and that's if you've even found the right place to navigate to! That's why I've clearly laid out how to get each of these components for your ship, so that you can get back to pirating across space.

You'll need to go see Jasmine Durand (also known as Jazz) at The Key in Kryx, where the Crimson Fleet are headquartered. She is your ship repairs tech for the area, and she'll also take care of getting you set up with the Comspike and Conduction Grid. Go to her and choose the option that says I'd like to view and modify my ships. From there:

  • Go to Ship Builder
  • Choose the Add option
  • Find the Comspike and Conduction Grid under Equipment
  • Place both on your ship, making sure they snap in place and show the green glow, instead of red.
  • Save and exit

Why can't I buy Comspike or Conduction Grids in Starfield?

Some players have experienced the above process not working for them, leaving them unable to complete the Crimson Fleet quest in Starfield. If you have done all of the above steps and still can't add the Comspike and/or Conduction Grid, you likely have a bug. Try reloading to past saves to try and get it to work again. This can be frustrating and will likely mean time lost on your game, but there doesn't seem to be another fix for the time being.
