How to drive rush in SF6

Use your drive rush to create a perfect opportunity for your combos!

No matter if you choose to use modern or classic controls, you'll want to learn how to utilize your special abilities, such as the drive rush, to take full advantage of the battle and get the upper hand on your enemy. I had a bit of a hard time getting the drive rush down, but after a bit of practice, I can start landing hits like a pro... or getting there, anyway. Here's how you can get the hang out of it too!

Street Fighter 6 - How to drive rush

There are two ways you can perform a drive rush in Street Fighter 6; both will require you to use power from your drive gauge, the small green bars under your vitality bar. The drive rush parry allows you to quickly dash toward your opponent and immediately follow up with powerful combos. The other will enable you to go straight from an attack into a drive rush cancel and uses more of your drive gauge. Here's a look at how to perform both of them:

The drive rush parry can be completed by first performing a drive parry and adding a dash into it, or rather, completing both simultaneously. This is great for making a dash at your opponent and following it with consecutive combos.

  • RB/R1 + L-Stick, L-Stick quickly toward your enemy

You'll have to press the drive parry button, which is RB or R1 on your controller, and at the same time, quickly dash using your left stick or left on your D-pad toward your opponent. You should see a greenish-blue flame surrounding your character if you're doing it correctly. You can follow this up with any attack and go immediately into an assisted combo as well, taking full advantage of your stunned opponent. A drive rush parry will use roughly one bar of your drive gauge.

I found the drive rush cancel to be a little more complicated to perform, and that's because you'll need to time it exactly right to successfully cancel out your move and initiate the drive rush. Just like the drive rush parry, you'll need to dash toward your opponent, but this time you won't use your parry.

  • Cancel Attack + L-Stick, L-Stick quickly toward your enemy

To do this drive rush, you'll need to figure out what your character's cancel move is; they all differ. For example, Luke's cancel move is his crouching heavy punch. So to do his drive rush cancel, you'll land a crouching heavy punch and immediately dash toward the opponent, with the left stick or left on the D-pad, to automatically trigger a drive rush. Again, you'll see the greenish-blue flames if you're doing it correctly. This drive rush cancel uses three bars of your drive gauge.

Use your drive rush attacks to catch your opponent off guard and initiate the perfect opportunity for a hefty combo move. Don't forget to keep an eye on your drive gauge, however, since running out of this will leave you with burn-out and make you vulnerable.
