Street Fighter 6 is the latest iteration of the best arcade fighting game in the world and is quickly taking the world over by storm. It brings many new features, refreshing the franchise and adapting it to a newer audience. Gone are the days of people standing in line to test their skills in arcades. Instead, Capcom has given us a fresh new ranking system and an opportunity for me to finally sign my own name onto online scoreboards, preferably not at the bottom! This guide will explain how exactly the SF6 ranking system works and what you need to do to get to the top!
How Street Fighter 6 Ranking System works
The new ranking system works quite differently in Street Fighter 6 than it did in previous games, and the main difference is the addition of the eight new ranking leagues to represent a particular level a player can be placed into. The leagues are further divided into five additional ranks per league. The following is the list of all SF6 Ranking leagues, starting from lowest to highest:

When starting SF6 for the first time, the game will ask you how well you play fighting games, and if you select the answer saying you're entirely new, you will be placed in the Rookie league. Otherwise, once you start playing Ranked mode, you will be placed in the Placement matches pool, allowing you to play ten placement matches to determine your skill level. The game will try to match you with a wide variety of opponents to determine your fighting skill, after which it will assign you to the league it thinks you will be most suitable for.
You can progress through the ranks by getting winning streaks until you hit Gold, but you will not get demoted, no matter how many losing streaks you get. The only penalizing factor is that you will lose league points but never drop to a lower league than the one you're currently in.
Things get dicier when you finally reach Diamond and Platinum, where successive losses will mean a demotion to the lower league. Winning streaks will also not count towards your progress to higher ranks and leagues, and it is in these two leagues where the fighting for advancement will be the hardest. Here, you must master characters like Marissa with borderline OP moves to stay competitive against opponents who want to advance up the ladder.
When you finally reach Master, you will be in the safe zone again. You will not be able to lose this rank again, forever displaying your skill and knowledge of the Street Fighter 6 game, which everybody on the Ranked board will want to achieve eventually.
