The DioField Chronicle bosses have very powerful skills with wide ranges and multiple HP bars that need to be depleted. Status ailments, like poison and freeze, could potentially help you defeat them faster or, at least, survive a little longer.

For example, when they’re about to unleash a powerful skill, you can use Shield Bash to try and stun them, canceling said skill. When the bosses are continuously summoning mobs of monsters, you can also cast an area-wide status ailing spell like Frostbind and cross your fingers. Still, will your stun and freeze attempts even work?

Can I inflict status ailments on The DioField Chronicle bosses?

The chances of the status ailment landing will definitely be lower, but status ailments can still inflict bosses.

However, do note that they get temporary status immunity against the abnormality they just received. An icon of the status ailment with a small, silver shield on top will appear under their HP bar to warn you of this. For instance, if they’ve been stunned, they will be immune to stun for a time.

So, while it’s not efficient to try and poison them to death, it’s possible to stun or freeze them when the circumstances necessitate it. Just remember to bring around three people with you that can inflict said ailments since the chances of them not landing are fairly high. EP is also limited.

Of course, there will be some bosses that will be immune to status ailments in later chapters. You will know they’re immune if you see a series of status ailment icons with silver shields attached to their HP bar.
