With Total War: Warhammer 3 released in February of 2021, Game Pass and Steam owners have been enjoying the thrill of new factions, experiencing new campaigns, and helping or hindering the scourge of Chaos. But for Linux and Mac users, the wait for a release has been painful. So, when will Total War: Warhammer 3 be released on macOS and Linux?
According to the official Total War: Warhammer 3 FAQ, which is regularly updated, the timeline for the release of game on Mac and Linux is still being worked out. Unlike the main game, the port of Total War: Warhammer 3 to Mac and Linux is being handled by a third-party developer.
Is Total War: Warhammer 3 on Mac and Linux?
The short answer is: not yet. The third-party developer, Feral Interactive, is handling both ports. Feral Interactive is an experienced Mac and Linux developer that previously worked on the release of Total War: Medieval II on the iOS and Android platforms. They’ve also been the official Mac publisher of Total War games for some time.
Currently, their website doesn’t list the release date of Total War: Warhammer 3 on either platform. The official Creative Assembly website, on the other hand, states, “We will release more information on their timelines [for Mac and Linux release] as soon as we’re able.”
This means you might have to wait, but at least there’s definitely going to be a release, which isn’t always the case with large strategy games.
