There are two different endings to Unicorn Overlord, and it's the final choice that makes the difference. The whole game has been setting up for this final battle against Galerius, and you need to make an important decision.
What to choose in the Galerius battle
After you have defeated Galerius, and he is kneeling before you, you will have two options: you can strike him down or you can spare his soul. Since the game has been pushing you toward the second choice, you might be wondering how the whole thing plays out if you choose the first option. Warning for spoilers for the ending of Unicorn Overlord from here on out. If you choose to spare his soul, you will get the good ending; if you choose to strike him down, you will get the bad ending.
What happens in the good ending of Unicorn Overlord?
In the good ending, we will use the Unicorn Ring to cleanse the evil of Galerius' soul. Alain and his chose romance partner will stand together against him; Baltro will steal his soul, giving back the body he had taken oven: Alain's mother. She will be alive and mostly well, and Galerius will be gone for good. You will then have to battle Baltro.
What happens in the bad ending of Unicorn Overlord?
In the bad ending, if you strike Galerius down, Alain finds that he has killed not Galerius, but his mother. As she bleeds out on the ground, Galerius takes over Alain's body, taking control of the Ring and beginning a dark age in the world of Unicorn Overlord.
