Valheim has released into 1.0, but what's in store for the future of the game? Will it get more content updates? New areas? Let's find out below in our Valheim Roadmap deep dive.

Full Valheim Roadmap and Planned Updates

Valheim has left early access and officially updated with 1.0 on September 9, 2026. With the update, Valheim added an entirely new section called the Deep North. There is some additional content added to the game, not just in the Deep North, but it's not focused on any one specific area. You can head straight to the Deep North when you launch Valheim, but it is recommended in the official FAQ that you should start over.

Another thing to note is that all of your old saves are available still even with Valheim 1.0, and that you can still use mods with the newest patch. However, it may take a bit for mods to be compatible with the base game, so perhaps wait a couple of weeks before you implement mods.

When it comes to future updates of Valheim, there is no clear roadmap. They plan on improving the game by fixing bugs and working on QoL improvement. However, the devs also don't have a clear timeline for how long the game will continue to receive updates. The same way, they still don't know if the game will get more content updates in the future. As of now, it doesn't seem to be so, but they will announce anything new on their social media.

That's about it for Valheim's roadmap, and so we will have to wait for more info regarding these updates. We recommend checking out our patch notes (linked above) for information on all of the recent updates and patches to Valheim.
