How to fix high ping in Valorant

Fix the persistent problem!

In a competitive shooter game like Valorant, ping always plays a vital role in deciding the outcome of an encounter and eventually the game. Ideally, every player would love to have a very low ping. But due to various reasons, you may have a high network ping affecting your gameplay. You can start fixing your ping by changing your internet network, using third-party routing software, or swapping your current DNS

Various methods to fix high ping issues in Valorant

  • Changing your internet provider: The most effective and easiest way to fix your high ping issue is to change your network provider. Look for companies providing great exclusive plans for gaming and streaming.
  • Using third-party Routing software: If you are not in a mindset to change your network provider, the next best thing is to get a subscription to routing software like ExitLagNoPing Tunnel, or Mudfish. Such software helps you establish a dedicated connection to any game servers, reducing your ping by 20-40ms on average.

  • Reducing network load on your PC:  Do not run any application in your background while playing Valorant that could use up your internet bandwidth. Close all applications and give a "High priority status" to Valorant from the Task Manager.
  • Using a wired connection: WiFi is a good option for casual multiplayer gaming. But when it comes to competitive gaming or Esports like Valorant, you should always go for a wired LAN cable. Unlike WiFi, a LAN cable provides a constant flow of internet connectivity and does not drop or fluctuate due to interference.
  • Updating your Network Adapter: Make sure you have the latest firmware version for your Network Adapter.
  • Changing your DNS: Many Valorant players on Reddit have found a better playing experience after flushing or changing their DNS. You can change the DNS from the ethernet properties to 8.8.8.8 and alternate DNS as 8.8.4.4. For flushing your DNS, open the command prompt with admin rights and type in ipconfig /flushdns, and press enter.

After applying any methods, remember to check your Valorant ping from the main menu before starting any match.
