How Corruption works in Darktide – Warhammer 40k

Here's Corruption explained.

The Corruption system is one of many featured in Warhammer 40k Darktide, but most players probably don't even know it's a thing. They will instead likely notice a strange purple bar filling up and wonder why their health is slightly lower after picking up a book. Luckily, our guide is here to help users understand what Corruption is and how to remove it.

Darktide Corruption System, Explained - Warhammer 40k

The Corruption System is a system to incentivize playing smart and working with teammates to avoid getting down by enemies. In short, every time you get knocked down, a purple Corruption bar will start to fill up, which prevents your character from being fully healed. You can also gain Corruption by picking up Grimoires that add a small amount of Corruption. The Corruption gained from Grimoires also spreads across your entire party, thus making communication important. We recommend letting teammates know when you want to pick one up so that you can work together to overcome a 25 percent health reduction from picking up the Grimoire. Several enemies will also cause characters to gain Corruption, so we also recommend working with teammates to take these enemies down fast.

How to avoid Corruption and remove it in Darktide - Warhammer 40k

To remove Corruption, you must seek out Med stations across all maps. You can find these Med stations usually around the beginning, middle, and late portions of matches. You also can't heal Corruption or remove it with other healing options in Warhammer 40k Darktide. Another thing is that you can't use Med stations to remove any Corruption gained from picking up a Grimoire in Darktide. Because of this, it's a good idea to make sure you know what you are getting into before picking a Grimoire up.
