He's a maniac, maniac on the floor!

There are several types of specialist enemies in Warhammer 40k Darktide, each with specific traits, looks, and ways to eliminate them. There are Carapace Armored enemies, which can shrug off most of the regular damage. Then, there are Infested whose trait is directly raising your corruption level. But perhaps the most interesting specialist opponent is the Maniac.

What is a Maniac enemy type in Warhammer 40k Darktide?

Maniacs are insane enemies who rush into the fray disregarding their own safety. Therefore, all enemy types who behave this way can be considered Maniacs. Dreg and Scab Flamers, Scab Trappers, and Mutants all fall into this type of enemy. It has caused some confusion among the player base, as the game doesn't mention what the Maniacs are.

The vital thing to note is that there are certain Weapon Perks that boost the damage against Maniacs. While they won't affect rank-and-file troops, they will come in handy when dealing with the likes of Mutants. They are notorious for being particularly annoying to deal with, having a large health pool, and with the Maniac trait, they will always be up in your face. Having the means to dispatch them as quickly as possible lessens their impact on your game run.
