How to level up quickly in WoW Shadowlands

There's no time like the present

After powering through one of the many story arcs that World of Warcraft has to offer, an invitation to join the Shadowlands will finally hit your quest log. To be inducted into the Shadowlands, you first need to reach level 48, though we strongly recommend hitting level 50 before accepting the invite.

After receiving the Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons quest in your log, you will need to visit either Stormwind Keep or Orgrimmar, depending on your faction. Doing so will begin the Shadowlands story arc and eventually put you atop the Icecrown Citadel to begin the incredibly long quest chain.

Level from 50 to 60

To level up quickly in Shadowlands, you should aim to avoid side quests altogether, seeing as these only offer small amounts of XP. The main story arc, however, provides larger lumps of XP and gear, and can lead to a much faster ascension to the maximum level.

Although some NPCs are swapped out depending on your chosen faction, Shadowlands follows an almost identical structure, meaning both quests and regions follow the same path. While staying the course and mopping up every last side quest that pops up can be tempting, it isn't always the right thing to do, especially if time is against you.

Unlike previous expansions in the timeline, Shadowlands aims to usher you towards the endgame content as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, it does offer you plenty of extra segments to rifle through, though, in all fairness, these are more for fleshing out the experience. Should you be on a mission to max out your level, however, then sticking to the main questline will be enough to get you on your way. The bottom line is: don't get distracted.

Picking up a quality mount will also be a major plus during your time in the Shadowlands. Having that +20% speed will have you gliding through the regions a lot quicker than simply waltzing from point A to point B.

Providing you stick to the main questline, you should be able to climb the final 10 levels in 12 to 14 hours, give or take.
