You can't install the Epic Games Store mobile app through any of the official mobile system stores (Play or Apple). Instead, you have to go to the Epic Store website and scan the QR code with your mobile device in order to download the app. It is available on:

Epic Games Store FAQ
The games are free for a limited time on the platform, but once you redeem them, they will remain in your library (even after they are removed from the free section.
No, you don't need to install the game to keep it. Once you click on the purchase button, you will run through the standard process of purchasing a game but it will be free and added to your Epic library. You do not have to install it, and it will be available for download anytime afterwards.
Every week there will be a free game (or two) available. Once a new game is offered for free, the one that will be next will be revealed. They have run events where more games were given out, most notably the Days of Free Games event during the winter holidays. Epic will also sometimes release multiple games at a time for free!
