What does the Voodoo Doll do in Phasmophobia?

Voodoo time!

The winter update of Phasmophobia, Cursed Possessions, added a handful of new items that players can use to interact with the ghost they're hunting, such as the Tortured Voodoo Doll. Each Cursed Possession is part of a contract, so I had to learn how to use them. This got me wondering: what does the Tortured Voodoo Doll do in Phasmophobia? In this guide, we will explain how to use this peculiar item.

What is the purpose of the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia?

Like the other Cursed Possessions, Tortured Voodoo Dolls enable hunters and ghosts to interact with one another. It looks like an ordinary rag doll with a stitched mouth and buttons for eyes and has exactly 10 pins stuck into it. Upon interaction by the player, one of the pins will drive itself further into the doll.

  • Tortured Voodoo Dolls
    • Description: These eerie, cute dolls are known for causing harm to others. Using the Voodoo Doll causes sanity to drop by 5% each time it's used. Hitting the heart will trigger a Cursed Hunt and drop your sanity by 10%.
      • How to use: Picking up the Voodoo Doll will force the ghost to interact with the environment. The pins are selected randomly; some may impact the user more than the ghost.

The Tortured Voodoo Doll will interact with the most common ghost types in Phasmophobia, albeit at a risk to the player. Each time you use it, there is a chance to activate the heart pin, triggering the Cursed Hunt, which lasts significantly longer than the normal one. On the other hand, it can be incredibly helpful to the player for evidence-gathering purposes. As always, it's up to you to assess the risk and reward and choose if it's worth using, like the rest of the Cursed Possessions in the game.
