It is frustrating when you encounter the CE-34878-0 error when playing Dying Light 2. This is a PlayStation 4 code that lets you know what's wrong, which is a good thing since it's a general error. You only see this error because your game crashed, not because your console is beyond repair.
This can be resolved by simply restarting the PlayStation. It is usually just an ordinary crash. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the game or your PlayStation.
When you keep receiving CE-34878-0 errors, it means something else is wrong. You should ensure Dying Light 2 and the PlayStation 4 system software are both up to date. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go back to the PlayStation home screen.
- Go to Dying Light 2 and press the Options button.
- Ensure that any game updates are installed by selecting Check For Update.
- Go to Settings from the PlayStation home screen once the game is updated.
- Install any system updates by selecting System Software Update from that menu.
- Restart your PlayStation 4.
PlayStation gives one of the following suggestions if you are still getting CE-34878-0 errors after updating (or your console does not require an update):
- If you have upgraded your console's HDD, that could be the issue.
- Reinstall the original Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
- Restart your PlayStation 4.
- If a PS Camera is connected to the system, that could be the issue.
- Remove it and reboot the system, then turn off Enable Face Recognition.
- To turn off Face Recognition, select Settings, and go to User. Then click Login Settings and Uncheck Enable Face Recognition.
- Remove it and reboot the system, then turn off Enable Face Recognition.
Worst case scenario, if nothing is working and you've waited a while for this to work, you can always initialize your PS4:
- Go to the Settings from the PlayStation 4 home screen.
- Go to Initialization.
- Select Initialize PS4.
This is the last thing you should do because it essentially reformats your console, deleting everything and starting fresh. We recommend waiting for a patch before doing something like this, but if you do, always back up your saved data onto a USB drive, PlayStation Plus Cloud, or another storage device.
