WoW Classic Cooking Guide

Anyone can cook!

Cooking is one of the three secondary professions in WoW Classic, along with first aid and fishing. However cooking is largely overlooked, which is a shame considering how useful it can be!

Cooking

Cooking is a profession that allows you to cook and create different consumables from materials found throughout the world or in the Auction House. Food is essential in WoW Classic, often needed to restore Health. Some food items give buffs and are considered essential for combat, as it improves your character's stats and survivability.

How to Cook with Basic Campfire

Once you've learned Cooking from a trainer, you'll be able to get started. Find a cooking fire, brazier, or Campfire, then open your spellbook. Next, Find the cooking icon. Select a recipe to view it, and then click create to cook it.

Recipies require specific ingredients that can be found or purchased from vendors. Other than gathering the ingredients needed for your recipe, you'll also need a fire to cook with.

How to Create a Campfire

When you take the cooking skill, you also gain the ability to Create Campfire. This can create a campfire for you if you have the required materials. You will need Flint, Tinder, and Simple Wood to start a campfire. These can be purchased from general goods vendors. While Simple Wood can only be used once, Flint and tinder are reusable.

If you're lacking the materials for a campfire, you can also use the cooking skill at Braziers, Fires, or flames. These are found inside and around inns, beside a cooking trainer, and throughout the world.

Cooking trainers

These trainers can teach you both apprentice level and journeyman level cooking. Apprentice Cooking requires level 5 and costs 1 silver to learn. Journeyman Cooking requires level 10 and 50 skill and has a 5 silver cost. Expert Cooking requires a special book called the Expert Cookbook. You can only purchase the expert cookbook from two vendors, Shadrina in Ashenvale or Wulan in Desolace. The Expert Cookbook costs 1 gold.
