In Elden Ring, players will have a range of Sorceries and Incantations to choose from, for both offensive and defensive measures. Knowing when to use spells, and most importantly how to change between long-range and close-range spells will make a huge difference in combat.
How to change Spells in Elden Ring
To change spells in Elden Ring, simply rest at a Site of Grace and select the Memorize Spells option where you'll see all the Sorceries and Incantations you have available as well as the available Memory Slots. Not all Sorceries and Incantations occupy the same Memory Slots and cost the same FP; while some only require a single Slot with low FP consumption, powerful spells will require more Slots and FP. So, you'll have to prioritize which ones you'll be using the most. Finding Memory Stones will unlock more Memory Slots, which in turn, will help you equip more spells.
How to use Spells in Elden Ring
In order to use a Sorcery or Incantation, you'll need a staff or a Sacred Seal to cast them. Ideally, you should be keeping the staff or Sacred Seal in the left hand while equipping a melee weapon in the right hand as then you'll be able to use both spells and engage in melee combat.
While in combat, you'll be able to change the spells to suit the situation. You can change the keybind which switches them by visiting controls.
How to find Spells in Elden Ring
You will come across various Sorceries and Incantations while exploring the vast and open world of Elden Ring. So, you'll have a lot of options to choose from. Make sure to have a variety of spells in your arsenal that can be used during every situation, including the bosses in the game. You'll also need to make sure these complement your overall build. More often you will need a combination of offensive and healing spells, so it's ideal to keep them equipped in the Memory Slots.
