The Differences between Rune Factory 5 and Story of Seasons

Rune Factory 5 is more of an RPG. It has skills, a leveling system, and the main story. While some Story of Season games does focus on story, it's usually placed on the back burner. Rune Factory 5 also features combat and dungeons, something that isn't in the Story of Seasons games.

In hindsight, Story of Seasons is the slow-paced relaxing of the pair that doesn't push you towards any goals. Rune Factory 5 is much busier, and even upgrading your tools is a much more complicated process than in Story of Seasons. You also find yourself using monsters on your farm in place of animals in Rune Factory 5, and part of your farming is done on the backs of dragons.
