Even if you’re not the type of player to care about performance, the frame drops in Rune Factory 5 are very visible. If the game lags during crucial battles or stutters during festivals, what would otherwise be a pleasant experience can become quite frustrating.

Since it’s a “too much graphics for the Switch to handle” issue, you may never remove the lag completely. However, there are a few workarounds:
- Play on docked mode. When the game runs on handheld, the Nintendo Switch decreases the game’s performance to conserve battery. Since this is not a problem when it’s docked, there should be less (or even no) lag.
- Turn off dynamic resolution on handheld. While this may solve lag while docked, it can cause more lag when not. The Switch uses extra power to process dynamic resolution, which it can’t provide undocked. You can turn off dynamic resolution in Options > System. It won’t completely remove it, but there should be less stuttering.
- Turn off farm camera. The fewer adjustments there are to display, the fewer things your Switch needs to process.
You can also lower the text speed to remove stuttering during dialogue. But those who find Normal too slow don’t have to!
Sadly, even doing all these steps won’t completely remove the lag. However, they will make the game run so much better!
