How to turn off Chromatic Aberration in Ghostwire: Tokyo

Be gone from my game!

These days, there are many graphical settings within games. They are all there with the idea in mind that they improve the game in some way or another. Sometimes though, graphical settings can cause a game to perform slightly worse in terms of frame rate or can just have some players disliking how the game looks with them on. Here is how to turn off chromatic aberration in Ghostwire: Tokyo.

To turn off the chromatic aberration, you are going to have to do a little more than head into the settings and switch it off, as it doesn't actually appear in the settings menu.

What you will have to do instead is turn it off manually. This will be a cakewalk for those who are used to delving into game files, but for those who rarely do, fret not, as it is quite easy and straightforward.

Just follow these steps:

  • Press Windows + R or search for Windows Run in the Windows Search bar
  • Copy and paste the following address: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\TangoGameworks\GhostWire Tokyo (STEAM)\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\
  • Then hit OK
  • Click on the Engine.ini file and open it with Notepad, Notepad++ or another similar text editor
  • Then copy and paste this line at the bottom of the script on your Notepad: [SystemSettings] r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
  • Press CTRL+S to save the file, or go to file and click save
  • Then exit the document

This line of code will tell the game to compensate for the chromatic aberration and instruct it to be set to zero so that it is no longer in use.

When you next fire up the game, you should notice that the effect is gone, just as if you had been able to turn it off in the settings.
