Flying Type Pokémon are very useful in providing offensive options but can also work defensively. They can be switched into moves targeting other Pokémon and usually have good support options with lots of Status moves. When fighting Flying Type Pokémon, it's important to know both their strengths and weaknesses to avoid using moves that won't deal much damage. Flying Type Pokémon are immune to Ground Type moves and will not take damage from them. Even the best Ground Types won't be able to Earthquake a Flying Type Pokémon.

Flying is strong against three Types in the game offensively and will deal super effective damage to:
- Grass - 2x
- Bug - 2x
- Fighting - 2x
It will also take less damage when being hit by these same Types as well.

What are the best counters to Flying Types in Pokémon?
The best Pokémon to counter Flying Types are either Rock or Electric Type Pokémon. While Ice Types can deal super effective damage to Flying Pokémon, they don't resist Flying moves used against them. Flying Pokémon tend to learn Fighting moves to cover their weaknesses as well. Flying moves will deal reduced damage to:
- Electric - 1/2
- Rock - 1/2
- Steel - 1/2
