Warframe – Devstream 167 Overview

Rocks, Insects, and a Paradox...

Devstream 167 was quite the dozy! While the information on The Duviri Paradox was present, a large majority of the stream focused on the information related to an unannounced update called Citrine's Last Wish. Touted as a classic Warframe-styled update akin to last December's Lua's Prey, it still features quite a few noteworthy additions that should make any Warframe fan happy. With that said, here's a quick breakdown of everything significant in Warframe's Devstream 167.

Warframe - Devstream 167: The Duviri Paradox

The Devstream kicked off with a developmental update of The Duviri Paradox's status. Digital Extremes showed off several concept art shots detailing the new open world's unusual cave system and underground areas. A skyshot of Duviri's open field was shown last to finish the slew of screen updates. DE concluded the segment by stating that a full gameplay breakdown of the Duviri Paradox would be shown in the next Devstream in February and that the fabled update is the most ambitious in Warframe's ten-year history.

Warframe - Devstream 167: Citrine's Last Wish

The real meat came in Citrine's Last Wish segment, with DE mentioning the update coming in February 2023. It began by detailing the existence of a new Warframe called Citrine, a female, geode, mineral-themed Warframe said to be dabbling between being a balanced and support frame. DE showed off a number of concept art shots of Citrine and a single in-game screenshot of the frame, though it was mentioned to be a WIP(Work in Progress).

With Citrine's announcement also came the announcement of her signature weapons:

  • Steflos - A Primary shotgun that fires energy burst similar to Arca Plasmor. Its special function is that the energy projectile grows in size and distance when enemies are being hit.
  • Corufell - A two-handed scythe that is mostly standard regarding melee weapons. However, where it really shines is the unique heavy attacks that turn it into a rifle-length gun blade, complete with a special animation.

With this info, Digital Extremes also revealed how we'd get our hands on Citrine and her weapons. A new Mirror Defense game mode was announced to be released with Citrine's update, and it was stated to be a very unique take on your typical Defense scenario.

Not much was shared about the overall story of Citrine's Last Wish, but we did learn that it has a heavy focus on minerals and features Otak, the mineral-loving vendor located on Deimos. Otak was stated to be a major character in the story and serves as the pity vendor for players who don't get lucky with Citrine's drops.

The last bit of major news was the identity reveal of the mysterious red Warframe Digital Extremes teased several days back. Turns out, it isn't a new Warframe at all, but a Rhino Digital Deluxe skin dubbed Rhino Deathwatch. DE showed off the skin in-game and touted its unique animations and attachments, such as the skin's insectoid wings. DE concluded the stream with a few extra additions coming with Citrine's Last Wish in February:

  • A Ember Voidshell Skin - Featuring a new Material Structure called Phenaureus Bark
  • New Drifter Cosmetics - An expansion of the Drifter's ability to customize Visage Inks
  • Four New Warframe Augments - One new Augment for Gara, Gyre, Revenant, and Yareli
  • Four New Arcanes - Two Warframe Arcanes, a Primary Arcane, and a Secondary Arcane
  • A New Pity System - Will be significantly easier to obtain Tauforged Archon Shards
  • A Buff to the Cold Status Effect - Stated to be a long-time underperformer, it will be easier to inflict the Cold status at an effective rate with this buff
