Sons of the Forest is a horror-survival experience where your mission is to simply survive as long as possible by foraging resources, food, and equipment. While you might want to get your hands on a weapon as soon as possible to fend off the hungry cannibals, you will also need to ensure your own hunger levels don't fall off. Thankfully, you can craft a plethora of structures to help you on your hunt for food, one of which is the handy Small Animal Trap that can catch rabbits and squirrels for you. Here's how you can build and use a Small Animal Trap in Sons of the Forest.
How to build a Small Animal Trap in Sons of the Forest
The Small Animal Trap is quite an easy build. You can find the blueprint to craft it within the Guide Book in your inventory. To find it, first open the Guide Book, and then switch the book over to your left hand by pressing X to bring up the craftable blueprints menu. Here, you will find the blueprint for the Small Animal Trap in the Traps tab. You will need a total of 14 Sticks to build a Small Animal Trap in Sons of the Forest. Once you place the blueprint of the structure on the ground, complete it by depositing 14 Sticks in the structure.
How to use a Small Animal Trap in Sons of the Forest
The Small Animal Trap can be placed anywhere on a flat surface. Ideally, you will want to place the trap in an area where you can find an abundance of small animals, like rabbits and squirrels. Once the structure is completed, it will trap any small animal that ventures near it. When the trap falls, it will make a distinct sound, after which you must collect meat from the animal trapped inside.
Once you collect the meat, make sure to interact with the trap again to raise it so that it can trap more animals. Furthermore, be careful not to get too close to the trap when it is set up, as moving too close to it will make it fall without trapping any animal.
