Sinister fishing RPG Dredge sees you captaining a small trawler around a group of islands that seem idyllic by day and then anything but at night. Fishing and dredging allow you to raise funds and find the gear you need to improve your boat, but it’s the characters that bring the game to life. These include four shadowy figures who can really help you out if you help them first. Here we’ve put together our hooded Figure guide for Dredge, including tactics and location for each.
Dredge Hooded Figures Guide
You’ll find each of the Hooded Figures in a different specific section of the map. But don’t rush to speak to them, as while the gifts you may receive are worth having, these are a one-time deal, and failure is a definite possibility.

When you start a conversation with one of the Hooded Figures, you’re essentially starting a timer on a pursuit. If you don’t complete it within the time limit, the Hooded Figure will die, taking their lovely loot with them to the grave. Therefore, it is best to first get your boat upgrades up to scratch and do your research (see below) before talking to each of them in turn. Due to the timer, you’ll only want to tackle one at a time. However, the most important thing to know is that you can collect the fish and have them on your boat before you start the quest.
So, if one fish is particularly distant or tricky to find, you can have it ready before you speak to the Hooded Figure. You can also deliver multiple fish at once, but it is important to note that you must deliver them in the correct order. They will ask for one fish and only ask for the next one after receiving it. For example, you can arrive at the Blue Hooded Figure with the Tiger Mackerel, but it will not ask for it until you have delivered the Blue Mackerel. If you bring them both at once, though, you can deliver the Blue, and it will immediately ask for the Tiger, which you can instantly hand over.
What to Do If Hooded Figures Died in Dredge?
If a Hooded Figure dies before you return to them with what they’ve asked for, you’ll still be able to tick off the Pursuit, but the reward will be gone forever. Some players won’t mind this, as while the rewards are great, it’s not game-breaking if you don’t have them.
However, if you’re determined to get them all but have failed, remember you can die and go back to your previous save point. It’s never tough to die in Dredge, so as long as you haven’t saved the game since you failed the Pursuit, you can go again. Alternatively, you can always start another run-through of the game.
How does a Hooded Figures Pursuit work?
If you don’t want to take on a Hooded Figure pursuit when you find one of the figures, do not interact with the question mark. Unlike a usual conversation with an NPC in Dredge, the minute you start the conversation, the Pursuit will begin. There is no option to come back later.

They will then ask you for the first fish they are looking for, and the Pursuit will be added to your cabin. There is no indication of a time limit, so you can’t know if or when you will fail the Pursuit. Therefore, it is best to complete it as quickly as possible. You can sleep overnight before returning, so it is longer than a day.
All Hooded Figure Locations in Dredge
Below you’ll find information on where each of the Hooded Figures can be found, along with what you’ll get for completing their quest and what you should know before you start each one. There is no specific order in which you should do them; this will depend on how you work through the game and improve your gear. Although the likelihood is you’ll be able to tackle the Blue Hooded Figure first, and its reward will give you a solid return for the rest of the game. Â
