In Amanda the Adventurer, you star as the main protagonist, Riley Parks, who has just recently inherited their late Aunt's house. As any new homeowner should, you decide to investigate the property, starting with the attic, where your aunt, according to her letter, has left you some tapes.

These tapes, despite their old 90s aesthetic, seem as if they have never been played before. They feature an early 2000s cartoon titled "Amanda the Adventurer," starring a little girl Amanda and her sheep pal, Wooly.

Although it appears to be quite innocent, Riley starts to feel uneasy as the cartoon takes a sinister twist. The cartoon seems to be communicating directly to you through the TV set, and Amanda begins to have dark requests that must be fulfilled to avoid upsetting her. Riley is compelled to continue watching the tapes and going along with these requests and uncovers the truth about the old cartoon by collecting special colored tapes.

The cartoon happens to be created by a local producer, Sam, and his adopted daughter, Rebecca. In these tapes, you can see that Rebecca, who voices Amanda, becomes increasingly more distressed as the director pushes her to say specific things in the studio. In another, Sam explains how Rebecca was his whole inspiration for the game. Through Riley's investigation, you come to understand that both have gone missing and may be trapped within the tapes themselves. The game features different endings and twists depending on what choices the player makes.
