As someone who doesn't miss a new Super Mario Party game, I am very excited for a new installment. Check out all of the details below, including when you can expect Super Mario Party Jamboree to be released.
What is the release date for Super Mario Party Jamboree?
Announced at the Nintendo Switch Direct, Mario Party Jamboree will be released on October 17, 2024. What better way to greet the chilly Fall days than with a competitive game of Mario Party? There will be no arguing, I'm sure.
What platforms is Super Mario Party Jamboree releasing on?
Even though I despair as a mainly PC player, Super Mario Party Jamboree will be released only for the Nintendo Switch. It is one of their biggest exclusive games, so it makes sense that they aren't changing it.
What is Super Mario Party Jamboree gameplay like?
According to Nintendo, Jamboree will be the biggest game in the Super Mario Party series, set on a large island resort. The game will include five new boards:
- Rainbow Galeria - a multi-floor board where you can use coins to purchase Stars when they are on sale.
- Roll'em Raceway - a raceway board where you can even move up to 40 spaces if you are lucky with a new dice (I already see myself getting one like usual).
- Goomba Lagoon - a beach board where the tide will affect the path
- Mega Wiggler's Tree Party - a tea party in nature? I'm always up for it!
- King Bowser's Keep - the lava surrounding this board fits Bowser's aesthetic, I wouldn't expect anything less from him.
Apart from new boards, Jamboree will also include two old maps: Mario's Rainbow Castle and Western Land. There are also over 110 minigames in which you can challenge your friends for victory or for a spectacular loss.
Up to 20 players can also join the new online Koopathlon mode (which requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership). I can only imagine the chaos of so many people playing a Mario Party game. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be team-based, so I don't have to worry about betraying anyone to climb to the top.
The trailer showcases even more game modes that we don't get a lot of detail on. One shows the Wiggler in what looks like a race against players that requires teammate coordination. The notes in the air lead me to think that there might be some music that you need to follow the rhythm of when stepping.
The game mode with Mario and Luigi flying while carrying Peach makes me worried for whichever one of my friends ends up in that basket. I suspect a lot of 'accidental' moments where Peach gets dropped (if that's part of the gameplay).
