Hitboxes sizes can be confusing.

Hitboxes in Apex Legends are a major point of interest to many players and a bit of a headache for Respawn Entertainment when it comes to the balance of the game and which Legends are preferred over others.

Respawn constantly tweaks character hitboxes in order to maintain the balance of the game, but as with many things in a living game, these hitboxes are a work in progress. So, without any further delay, here's a quick rundown of all the hitbox sizes of Apex Legends characters.

Every character's hitbox size in Apex Legends (Season 18)

I've divided Apex Legends character hitbox sizes into five categories: Average, Small, Skinny and tall, Medium, Medium and slightly wider, and Large with Fortified Traits.

Hitbox SizeLegends
AverageHorizon, Bangalore, Valkyrie, Rampart, Catalyst, Seer, Bloodhound, Mirage, Octane, Fuse, Maggie, Ash, Crypto, Loba, Vantage
SmallWraith, Lifeline, Wattson
Skinny and TallPathfinder, Revenant
Average Height, Slightly WiderVantage
Large with Fortified TraitCaustic, Newcastle, Gibraltar

Some Legends, such as Gibraltar and Caustic, have larger hitboxes than others, which means they are easier to hit. To compensate for this, they have the Fortified perk, which reduces the damage they receive. In other words, the Fortified perk gives these legends a 25% damage reduction, which makes legends with large hitboxes more balanced and competitive with other popular choices, such as Wraith.

On the other hand, some Legends, like Wraith, have smaller hitboxes, which makes them harder to hit. The Low Profile perk, which increased the damage they received, has been removed for balance reasons. Instead, Respawn has adjusted their hitboxes, as they did for Lifeline and Wattson recently.

Hitbox information is not general public knowledge, though, on occasion, Respawn will release a comparison image like the one above in an update's patch notes. Some savvy Apex Legends and data miners will extrapolate what information they can

Overall, it's crucial to be aware of the hitbox difference as it can give you an edge in choosing your battles. You can improve your gameplay by considering your legend’s hitbox when you start a fight and position yourself.
