How to use a Lockout to win Control in Apex Legends

Win early with total control.

Normally, in Apex Legends’ Control mode, your team needs to reach 1,250 points to win. These points are gained by holding Zones and gaining points over time. That said, there is another, faster way to victory, though it is much harder. The quickest way to win in Control is via a special win condition called a Lockout win, and here is how it works.

A Lockout is an ongoing game condition that begins when one of the two teams owns all three Zones. This is particularly tricky, as you only have nine players to split up around said points. However, if you can hold all three points for the full duration of a Lockout (90 seconds), the Control game will end early and result in a victory for your team.

Note that the other team can also defeat you this way, so be sure to try to hold onto at least one of your Zones at all times, even if it is just your Forward Operating Base (FOB). Keep in mind the long game matters more than forcing a Lockout, so only go for it if you feel it will put your team in the best position. Otherwise, keep your FOB, and the Central Zone owned and heavily defended.
