Dark Souls 3 Weapon Tier List

Arm yourself or die trying.

In the brutal and unforgiving world of Hidetaka Miyazaki's games, I relied on my weapons to survive and overcome the odds. When it comes to the Dark Souls 3 tier list, there are a lot of weapons to choose from.

Best Dark Souls 3 Weapons

Dark Souls 3 is the most refined game in the trilogy, but it's still infamously tough, especially for someone who is not used to Soulsborne games. Each game in the series (including the first Dark Souls) requires a careful choice of gear and weapons. In this list, you'll find all weapons from the third installment of the Souls series, ranked in five tiers, from S to D.

Dark Souls 3 Weapons, Ranked

S-Tier

  • Lothric Knight Sword - This sword has exceptional Strength and Dexterity values, which makes it a valuable weapon in builds that favor damage. This sword's skill is Guard Break, which is a straightforward skill but very useful in any aspect of the game.
  • Moonlight Greatsword - Moonlight Greatsword is commonplace in all From Software games, and it's a great choice to wield because of its fantastic Strength and Intelligence bonuses. That alone makes this sword good for Magic builds.

A-Tier

  • Astora Straight Sword - This weapon has great lore behind it, and many players favor it. It is also a very good lighter weapon with great range, and I like to pair it with Dark Sword. The smaller damage puts it in the silver tier, though.
  • Dark Sword - Great pair to Astora Straight Sword; this weapon has a short range but devastating damage output and unique Stomp skill. Dark Sword needs a longer weapon for the balanced build, so it's not in the top tier.

B-Tier

  • Gundyr's Halberd - This is the weapon you get after defeating the first boss in the game, Gundyr. It is a decent weapon with excellent durability but is seriously lacking in terms of strength.
  • Yhorm's Great Machete - If you prefer to play a punishing game, this weapon will suit you really well, as it can deal massive damage. However, players who prefer a more aggressive style won't appreciate it much.

C-Tier

  • Washing Pole - The legendary samurai longsword is not that good in this game. Despite having great range, Washing Pole lacks in every other aspect, including maneuverability and attack options.
  • Caestus - If you really want to challenge yourself, instead of a sword, you can pick spiky gloves. They boost your offense, but they don't have any range, so you'll have to fight in the pocket all the time.

D-Tier

  • Clerics Candlestick - This is a low-tier weapon that gets obsolete very early in the game. It is somewhat helpful if you want to combine melee and Magic, but any pure melee or magic weapon is better than this.
  • Broken Straight Sword - This is among the weakest weapons in the game. It might have minor damage output, but it also has a small range too. It is deservedly at the bottom of this list.
