Best mods for Dragon’s Dogma 2

The modders are working overtime for Dragon's Dogma 2.

Dragon's Dogma 1 is notorious for having an active modding community, and it's no surprise that Dragon's Dogma 2 also receives the same treatment. Here are some of the best mods you can install in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Fluffy Mod Manager

The core of modding in Dragon's Dogma 2 is the Fluffy Mod Manager. It essentially allows users to compile all of their favorite mods and enable/disable them with a single click. If you are exploring mods in DD2, this should be your first mod download, as all other mods are based on this tool.

Fluffy Mod Manager also supports other games like Uncharted, Resident Evil series, FF7 Remake, and many more. Its GUI is also very accessible, making it easy for people to mod Dragon's Dogma 2 even if they are new to the modding scene.

Better UI Icon Pack

Better UI - Element Icons
Better UI - Vocation Icons
Better UI - Item Categories Icons

The icons in Dragon's Dogma 2 leave a lot to be desired. They look dated and have this weird, jittery quality, which makes them hard to notice or even make out at a glance. Luckily for us, Pavelk made a bunch of texture-replacement mods that enhance the overall UI elements of Dragon's Dogma 2.

There are three Better UI mods in total: Elements, Vocation, and Item Categories Icon. Each mod still adheres to the original format but enhances its visibility so players can instantly identify the icons. In the image above, you can clearly identify the various item categories in my inventory. The Vocation icons, on the other hand, are larger than your default ones and have a nice and crisp frame.

Crazy's Shop

Crazy's Shop

I get it; the community hates Capcom for their shoddy microtransaction scheme in Dragon's Dogma 2, and they are fighting back by making a mod that literally contains the items in their Paid "DLC" available via the first wandering merchant you meet in Melve.

Although you can get these items later in the game, having a single vendor that sells all of them with an almost unlimited supply will save you a lot of time traveling from one town to another. You can also combine this mod with the Item Tweaks (more on that later), which essentially lowers their prices down to 1 Gold.

Item Tweaks

Item Tweaks

As mentioned above, the Item Tweaks mod can decrease the prices of every single item down to 1 Gold. It's a tad bit overpowered to my liking, but the mod has a few options you can toggle on in the mod manager. Here are all the options for Item Tweaks:

  • Cost 1 Gold
  • Cost 1 Gold + x10 Sell Price
  • Cost 1 Gold, No Weight
  • Cost 1 Gold, No Weight (Ferrystone Only)
  • x10 Sell Price
  • No Weight
  • No Weight + x10 Sell Price
  • No Weight (All Items Only)
  • No Weight (Materials Only)
  • All-in-One

I recommend only using the No Weight (Materials Only) option if you still want a relatively vanilla experience of the game without having to worry about managing your loot too often. It's only a matter of time before we get a fully revamped item-weight-price-sell mod for Dragon's Dogma 2 that balances the game in a completely refreshing and non-tedious way.

Early n' Cheap Art of Metamorphosis

Early n' Cheap Art of Metamorphosis

Another shot fired towards Capcom by the modding community is the Early n' Cheap Art of Metamorphosis. Similar to the Fast Travel Pack mod, you can purchase the Art of Metamorphosis via Dudley in Melve for 1000G. Again, you can get the Art of Metamorphosis without this mod, but the problem with that method is the amount of Rift Crystals you will need to purchase the item.

If you're still unsure of the Art of Metamorphosis, it's essentially the item that allows you to edit your character in Dragon's Dogma 2. This mod removes the necessity to gather enough Rift Crystals to change your character's hair or voice.

For additional context, you need 500 RC to purchase Rift Crystals normally—in my case, I have been playing the game for 10-12 hours already and have only acquired about 700 RC.

FF7 Buster Sword and Weapon Transmog

Weapon Transmog

I know that the screenshot above looks silly and quirky. When have you ever seen multiple people carrying the iconic Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7? Although this mod is a very early work in progress, the Weapon Transmog shows a lot of potential for fully customizing your character in Dragon's Dogma 2.

As of now, you can only apply the Weapon Transmog through the Fighter and Warrior Vocations. Hopefully, future updates of the mod will include all Vocations and a Pawn-and-Arisen-Exclusive version, where it will only affect your characters and not NPCs.

Dragon's Dogma 2 DLSS3 Enabler 01 - Puredark

Dragon's Dogma 2 is notorious for its poorly optimized performance. Even the most high-end PCs struggle with the game. Luckily, if you own an RTX 4000 series card, you can enable DLSS Frame Gen using this mod!

For this mod to work, you need to enable DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex. Then, you need to press End on your keyboard to enable frame generation. Mod users stated that this almost doubled their performance, especially in big cities like Vernworth.

Do note, however, that this is still frame generation. You may experience crashes or bugs and even ghosting if your FPS gets too low. Frame Gen is highly dependent on your base FPS, and having severe stutters or dropped frames constantly will render the mod useless. Make sure you have the best settings for high FPS to ensure Frame Gen can smoothen out your experience.

Do not be afraid of excess weight

Do not be afraid of excess weight

If weight was ever your biggest gripe in Dragon's Dogma 2, and Item Tweaks is too overpowered for you, then the Do Not Be Afraid of Excess Weight mod is your best option. It enhances the Ring of Accrual so you can carry a lot more items.

The mod also offers a few options, ranging from an additional 20 kg to 500 kg. 20 kg per Ring of Accrual is more than enough for your town-to-town travels, but 50 kg per ring is the sweet spot if you plan on going on a long trip.

Field of View Increase

Field of View Increase

I always opt for a higher F.O.V. when possible while gaming as it allows me to see more information, especially in action RPGs like Dragon's Dogma 2. If you're getting motion sickness from the default and you're not satisfied even after changing the F.O.V. of DD2, then you should install the Field of View increase mod.

According to the mod author, it currently only has one setting, which is 90 degrees F.O.V. It's perfectly fine for the most part. However, do note that the majority of the players who installed this mod experienced a substantial decrease in FPS, likely due to the game rendering more objects than intended. Make sure you have a strong baseline FPS before you install this mod!

No Job Requirements

No Job Requirements

One thing I'm not a fan of in Dragon's Dogma is Vocation-exclusive armor, and this is where the No Job Requirements mod comes into play. With this mod, you can equip any weapon or armor of your choice, regardless of your vocation.

You may opt to equip different weapon types for your Vocation (e.g. Sword and Shield for an Archer), but I don't recommend doing so, especially in the early game, since you don't have enough skills to utilize the weapon. It's much more efficient to completely shift your Vocation instead.
