What is the save file location for Dragon’s Dogma 2?

If Capcom obliged in implementing multiple save slots for DD2, this article wouldn't have been necessary.

Capcom's one-save-file policy from the original game is a quality-of-life improvement that should have been excluded in Dragon's Dogma 2. Since Capcom's policy restricts players from naturally cycling through their saves, many are asking for the save file location for Dragon's Dogma 2.

Finding the save file for Dragon's Dogma 2 may be a bit tricky as it's not as simple as "it's in the game folder" stuff. Here are the steps of how you can locate your Dragon's Dogma 2's save file:

Dragon's Dogma 2 Save File Location (do not copy-paste)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\Steam Account Number\2054970\remote

  1. Open Windows Explorer and go to your C Drive (where Windows is installed).
  2. Go to Program Files (x86), locate and open the Steam folder.
  3. Go to userdata, and you'll see a few folders with random numbers. These numbers correlate to Steam accounts. I had to manually sort through these folders since I have multiple Steam Accounts on my PC.
    • An easy way to locate the correct Steam Account Number is to click the Date Modified (assuming you last played Dragon's Dogma 2) and click the top folder.
  4. After opening the correct Steam ID folder, you'll get another set of randomly numbered folders. These are the Game IDs, and you'll need to look for the number 2054970 specifically.
  5. Open the 2054970 folder, then remote. You'll see a win64_save folder, which is your character save in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Using the information above, you can easily back up your save file by manually copy-pasting the win64_save to a different location on your PC. Alternatively, you can use the DD2 Save Manager to automate this process for you.

How to create a new character in Dragon's Dogma 2

Once you have backed up your files, you can delete the win64_save from your actual Steam folder. Before you launch Dragon's Dogma 2, you need to disable Steam Cloud Saves so Steam will not download the Cloud backup onto your PC.

After you have completed all of these steps, simply boot up the Dragon's Dogma 2. You can then start going through the Prologue and creating your new character. With the DD2 Save Manager, you'll also be able to seamlessly cycle through your character saves, giving you infinite save slots.

NOTE: Creating multiple characters continuously may get you banned from Capcom's servers.
