Dying Light 2 features several advanced graphics utility options, from ray tracing to upscaling. The graphically demanding game can run on both DirectX versions—DX11 and DX12. But what changes when you switch between them?
The ray tracing graphic feature in Dying Light 2 is only supported in DX12. You cannot experience ray traced lightings in the environment while running the game on DX11. So if you have capable hardware, i.e., graphics card that supports ray tracing, you can experience the best quality graphics that the game has to offer.

However, turning on ray tracing also lowers your game's frame rate (FPS) as it consumes a significant amount of VRAM. Turning on this feature may not be the best idea for those who prefer performance over quality in their games.
Even though you have an NVIDIA RTX or current-gen AMD GPU, you should test whether the game is outputting the desired FPS or not. If you are consistently hitting over 60 FPS, using DX12 and playing the game with ray tracing enabled is truly astonishing.
