What does Gaius Julius Caesar’s journal say in Expeditions: Rome?

Don't read a war hero's journal!

In Expeditions: Rome, players will become friends with Gaius Julius Caesar early on. When you speak with him after the pirate ship attack that begins the game, he will give you the side quest to find his journal. He warns you against reading the journal, which will bring a bad outcome to the quest.

It's good we have it all here right here in four different snippets from the journal provided by Agrippa, who stole it:

"He drew his blade and pointed defiantly at the looming horizon. 'Set Sail!' he proclaimed, 'we have a world to conquer!'

"Monstrous teeth gleaming in the pale moonlight, the pirates attacked with a ferocity hithero unseen on open seas."

"His compatriots wavered, shaking in fear. Clearly they have never witnessed such villainy. But his wit was made of steel."

"With a thundering battle-cry he rallied them and led the charge into the heart of an epic battle on the high seas."

It is an exaggeration (or Julius' interpretation) of the previous battle.

You must pry it from Agrippa himself to get all of this information as you cannot click into his journal. You are given different answers if you don't read it than if you do. As long as you have at least a high level of speech skill, you can lie since the option is grayed out.

Still, it would be difficult to do this before completing the next task that would give you experience and force you to leave the area.
