Are Chocobos in Final Fantasy 16?

They're iconic after all.

The Final Fantasy series is old and includes many entries, many dearly beloved by fans. Each title adds new elements and features, but some appear across various entries, including Chocobos. With Final Fantasy XVI around the corner, many may be wondering if there are Chocobos in Final Fantasy XVI.

Does Final Fantasy XVI have Chocobos?

The answer is yes—Chocobos will return in Final Fantasy XVI. The iconic birds have appeared in nearly every Final Fantasy game and even in non-Final Fantasy games. As a result, Chocobos have become a fan favorite and are even known among those who have not played the Final Fantasy series.

That being said, we do not know what role they will play in Final Fantasy XVI. They appear to be used as mounts in promotional images, perhaps teasing that they will be ridable to travel the land faster. Chocobos have been summons in the past, so there may be a Chocobo Eikon you can use in battle.

We hope they are not just mounts but also used in a mini-game, ideally Chocobo racing. Final Fantasy VII's Chocobo Racing and breeding mini-game was a highlight of the game, and a modern take on it would be delightful. We'll have to wait to see what role Chocobos play, but we can't wait to see these birds return.
